How one small school is making waves as champions of competitive rowing

Posted on 09 October, 2017 in Education, School

Compared to most schools in Oregon, Oregon coast College may not be well known for their football or basketball programs, but if there’s one area that they excel in it is in competitive rowing. The team is once again off to nationals where it will compete against college teams from across the country in Gainesville, GA.

With throwing being one of the few purely amateur sports left, it is impressive to see just how far these competitors will go to compete against themselves. They don’t chase the dream of a seven-figure contract in the professional leagues, they only seek to challenge themselves in the teammates to be the best that they can be.

This little-known team 9 is Guided by assistant coach Steve Morris, who will trainees man how to act as a single cohesive unit. For them the sport is more about power and tempo, it’s a matter of being perfectly in sync with one another, willing to cover each other’s weaknesses and provide constructive criticism whenever possible.

While it may not get as much Glory as other sports, this legendary rowing program has produced some impressive stars who say the experience benefit them greatly. One such example is the head coach of Stanford University Craig Amerkhanian. He said that “OCC was the springboard I needed to get to the next level, academically, athletically and professionally.”

This message a personal growth and team cohesion is the bedrock of head coach Cameron Brown’s ideology. He believes that young man can grow physically and mentally by working together in such a precise manner. He went on record to say “You’ve got eight moving parts and everyone has to work together. It’s not just the physical development, but the mental maturation as well.”

The team is now chasing the 12th national title, something absolutely impressive for such a small school. Oregon Coast College clearly represents the best of men and can teach the strongest competitors how to become more than a single player. Thanks to this rowing program these men will continue to compete grow and impress us all once they leave school and enter the working world. Learn more:

The Birth and Growth of the Kabbalah Centre in the United States

Posted on 30 March, 2017 in Education, Religion

Rabbis traditionally maintained that the teachings of Kabbalah were so terribly complex that they could be easily misunderstood. Therefore, traditionalists believed that Kabbalah should only be taught to experienced students, who were nearly always male and over the age 40. The Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre changed this tradition. The LA Kabbalah Centre is open to a wide range of persons interested in the teachings and practices of Kabbalah. This includes people with no background in Hebrew and Jewish readings.

The Kabbalah Centre in Los Angeles opened its doors in 1984. Before that time, the Kabbalah Centre was headquartered in New York, where its doors opened in 1965. The Kabbalah Centre in the United States is an outgrowth of Yeshivah Kol Yehuda in Israel.

When the organization started in the United States in New York, it was called The National Research Institute of Kabbalah. The New York organization was established by Rav Philip Berg and Rav Yehuda Tzvi Brandwein.

The Kabbalah Centre is a nonprofit organization. In addition to its center in Los Angeles, it has branch locations in over 50 cities around the world. This includes major branches in Toronto, London, and New York City. In addition, the Kabbalah Centre offers courses online and through a multitude of study groups internationally.

Celebrities have been attracted to the study of Kabbalah for a long time. This includes some well-known Hollywood icons like Elizabeth Taylor, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Marilyn Monroe.

Singer Madonna is the best known Kabbalah adherent today. In addition to her own commitment to study Kabbalah, she has established branch locations of the Kabbalah Centre. In addition, she is financially supportive of the organization. She has been involved with the LA Kabbalah Centre for a couple of decades.

Paris Hilton represents another famous individual who is connected with the Los Angeles Kabbalah Center. She has told reporters that she holds the Kabbalah Center responsible for allowing her to maintain a sense of balance in her life. She indicated that the Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre was invaluable to her when her relationship with singer Nick Carter came to an end.

Kabbalah Centre Helps Rebuild Homes After Disaster

Posted on 22 January, 2017 in Education, Religion

The day of May 20, 2013, devastated the lives of thousands of people in Oklahoma. On that day an EF5 tornado packing winds of 210 miles per hour tore through the small town of Moore leaving 24 people dead and 377 injured. An estimated 1,150 homes were destroyed leaving thousands of people homeless, and many without insurance or financial resources to rebuild.

Soon after the Kabbalah Centre stepped in to help, partnering with Habitat for Humanity to begin the rebuilding process.

Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 as a non-governmental and non-profit organization with the straightforward goal of putting people into affordable homes – by building them one. It does so with the held of volunteer labor and outside donations.

After the devastating tornado event of 2013, the Kabbalah Centre provided significant financial support working through Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) to build a new home for the Pendley Family, which lost everything in the disaster.

The Pendly’s were left “homeless and somewhat helpless,” they said. The HFHI program with the help of Kabbalah resources got down to work to set this family back on its feet, but also to show that other people cared about them, even if those “other people” might be total strangers.

Kabbalah Centre officials say doing such work is at the core of the Kabbalah mission – Kabbalah is not a philosophy, but a practical, active force in the world that recognizes there is real work to be done.

For the people of Moore, Oklahoma, that means constructing safe and decent homes designed with superior energy efficiency, multiple interior selections, multiple 3 and 4 bedroom floor plans, and fenced back yards – even refrigerator and oven are provided.

Perhaps even more important, it shows that no one is alone in the world — and that other people care.

The Kabbalah Centre and Extremist Traditionalists

Posted on 05 November, 2016 in Education, Religion

One thing that could be said for any religion is that it attracts a lot of the extreme traditionalists. There are those that are found in any religion that will react in ways that are disproportionate to the perceived offense. Often times, the extreme reactions of those people do not come from the true teachings of religion. Instead, they either come from a misunderstanding, a twist, or some kind of tradition that is carried over. The bible has examples of this. Jesus himself has dealt with people that have twisted the word and used it for their own gain of spiritual.

There is one set of teachings that is working very hard to prevent such a perversion of religion. This is Kabbalah Centre. The teachings of the Kabbalah are not only meant to prevent any twist of the words that are taught, but they are also meant to correct any twist on the teachings that have already occurred. Therefore, people will be able to know what the true meaning is of what they are taught if they are able to get a hold of the teachings. However, they have to have been taught a lot about the Kabbalah Centre in order to be able to use it.

It is still not recommended by the traditionalists for the Kabbalah teachings to be granted to the normal every day people. However, there is a lot of interest when it comes to getting a glimpse at the true meaning of what is being taught in other religions. For one thing, people that understand the religious teachings find themselves feeling enlightened about the world and the universe.
